PLANNING IN YOUR COMMUNITY

Planning in New Zealand is undertaken through both the Resource Management Act (RMA) and the Local Government Act (LGA).

Local Government New Zealand maintains a link (http://www.lgnz.co.nz/lg-sector/maps/)  to all regional and local councils, as well as community boards, throughout New Zealand.

The Ministry for the Environment also maintains links to regional and local plans (http://www.mfe.govt.nz/rma/councils/index.html).

Most communities make their plans available on their websites, and the Community Outcomes website (http://www.communityoutcomes.govt.nz) sponsored by the New Zealand government includes resources on community planning.
